THE 182 CM TELESCOPE: OBSERVING

TIME ALLOCATION PROCEDURE

Observing time  at the 1.82m Telescope of Cima-Ekar (Asiago)

NEW Call Announcement: 17th November 2011

Information for Local Accommodation

A number of guest rooms are available both at Asiago and Cima Ekar. The observer should send an email to guest@oapd.inaf.it a few days in advance specifying the number of nights required and providing his/her personal details. Guests have to pay for the room accommodation. No restaurant facility is provided at the Observatory, except for two small kitchens located in the same building as the guest rooms. In practice, accommodation in town is a good option, difficult to book only in July, August, at Christmas and in February.

Policy of the observations.

Observations obtained with the 182cm telescope at Cima Ekar (Asiago) have a proprietary period of 1 year since the date of the observations. After this time they are released and become available from the Archive.

Observing constraints.

A number of distributed probes record the temperature and the humidity  inside and outside the dome. These data are obtained and archived by the weather monitoring system.
When the relative humidity exceeds 95% the dome must be kept  closed. Observing in higher humidity conditions can damage both the mirrors and the electronic equipment. and it is therefore forbidden.
The dome can be re-opened when the humidity drops below 90%. The respect of these rules is the observer's responsibility.

Because of security of the telescope and of the primary mirror the telescope must  not be pointed at altitude below 20 degrees.

Acknowledgments

Publications based on Asiago proprietary or archive observations have to give  in a footnote on the first page of the article  the following citation:
