Research about historical events and personalities concerning foundation and scientific activity of Padova Observatory, has started up since 1985, with celebrating the bicentenary of the birth of Giovanni Santini, director of Padova Observatory for about sixty years, from 1815 to 1877.

Documents and scientific correspondence,
as primary source, are analyzed in order to improve understanding of scientific activity of Padova astronomers and
